Thesis statement:
In this paper first we will identify the current main definitions of sustainable development in the context of Peru, and how one of these definitions -based only in economic aspects- has been implemented by the Peruvian government. After, we will demonstrate with some examples about common pool resources in Peru that this economic approach of development omitting other concerns likes culture and environment. Finally, we will make concrete recommendations to the Government (especially to the Executive and Legislative branches) on how to expand the current definition of sustainable development including social and environmental factors in order to make the definition of development effectively sustainable, and how this expanded definition could be applied to common pool resources in Peru.
